Synopsis
Imam Ahmad joined the struggle for independence as a student soldier. Later he worked as a cartoonist for Harian Rakyat. After the events of 1965, anything linked to the communist party was crushed. Imam hid for two years before he was arrested.
Now 86, he talks calmly about the ideas he still holds: that Marxism, as he understands it, is not about religion or God, and that religion is a private matter.
